Scenes from Seattle

Seattle Space Needle

While I’m in the process of perfecting my next recipe (linguine with clam sauce!), I thought I’d take this chance to do something my dad always loved: showing off vacation pictures.

Don’t worry, I’m not going to make you sit through a 500-picture slide show. I just selected a few choice shots that I knew my dad would have loved. He never made it to Seattle, but while I was there on my first trip, taking in the sights and seafood, I just knew he would have loved it.

Pike Place Market

Dad would have been in HEAVEN here. So much fresh food!

Pike place market fish

Fresh fish!

Pike Place Market Seattle

Pike Place Seattle Crab

Pike Place market vegetables

I’d like somma that awesome sweet corn

Pike Place Market monk fish

No thanks.

Dad would love grossing us out with this bad boy.

Pike Place Market Pastries

I had to try one of these.

Seattle boat locks

We spent some time hanging out at the locks just watching the boats go through. Dad would have marveled at this feat of human engineering. :-)

Train bridge in Seattle

Trains, of course!

Seattle fresh oysters

I tried my first raw oysters in Seattle…and loved it!

Seattle fresh oysters

Dad would be so proud.

Live geoduck

Live geoduck (pronounced gooey-duck). Also known as the penis of the sea. I wasn’t quite adventurous enough to try one, but I feel like Dad would have given it a shot.

Train ride between Seattle and Portland

We took the Amtrak train from Seattle to Portland, and the views were breathtaking. I knew my dad would have loved every second.

Another sea scene

The trip was incredible. I’ll certainly never forget that fresher-than-fresh seafood! Next stop, Maine for some lobster?

Portland building

Bonus pic: this old building in Portland looks like it could have come right out of my dad’s model train layout.
